A project-based youth collective devoted to the craft & creation of contemporary dance

Based in Brisbane, RB Corp. Instruction — or RB Corp. for short — is a project-based youth collective, inspiring the technical and creative development of young, endeavouring artists through its quality craftsmanship.

Since the company’s establishment in 2018, RB Corp. continues to fortify its thread with aspiring generations through training and performance opportunities, annually availing and nurturing dancers from all across Australia in a passionate and inclusive environment.

What’s on?

Originating from Bundaberg, Riley commenced his full-time studies at the Australian Dance Performance Institute in 2009 before successfully auditioning for the New Zealand School of Dance in 2010, where he majored in contemporary dance.

During his time in Wellington, Riley performed leading roles in works by Rafael Bonachela (Sydney Dance Company), Garry Stewart (ex-Australian Dance Theatre) and Antony Hamilton (Chunky Move), as part of the School’s annual Graduation Seasons, and received guest tutorage from national and international industry professionals such as Anouk van Dijk, Richard Cilli and Craig Bary. He also worked professionally with acclaimed independent artist Lina Limosani in 2014.

Since graduating in 2013, Riley now embarks on his artistic pursuit by continuously aspiring to develop, nurture and shape his own unique form of movement through his coaching and choreographic endeavours. In 2015, he emphasised this desire by forming Riley Baldwin Youth Projects, before relocating to Brisbane to intensify it. In 2018, RB Corp. Instruction surfaced as a way to further fortify his devotion to the craft and creation of contemporary dance, and to encourage the importance of innovation through upcoming generations.

Riley freelances on a very selective basis. He has also been invited to coach at numerous workshops and intensives, and is entrusted to coach students for the Prix de Lausanne — the world's most prestigious international ballet competition held annually in Switzerland.

FAQs

When do you hold auditions?

All-year round, catering for those wishing to fast-track (online) well in advance and generally (in-person) for those still confirming their annual calendars. We post across our social media platforms when registrations are open/should vacancies appear.

how many shows do you stage each year?

We stage two productions annually, either locally in Brisbane or regionally.

when not in show season, Do you offer any training opportunities?

Yes. We host workshops — RB Encoded — for dancers aged 7+. They are open to everyone, meaning dancers don’t have to be in our casts to participate.

Do you offer payment plans?

While we don’t offer individual payment plans, all company-related fees are collected in instalments. These are spaced months apart for affordability and include GST.

How old do dancers need to be to audition?

Typically, our youngest company members start at 8, right through to 21 or of a pre-professional age and standard.

How many dancers do you take into your casts?

Pending theatre capacities, our cast size varies between between 30 to 60 dancers of mixed ages from mixed demographics.

Can I audition digitally if I can’t make the in-person class?

Yes, but attending in-person is preferred and increases your chances of acceptance. If fast-tracking, auditioning online is the only method.

How often do you rehearse?

If the production is new, we rehearse weekly throughout a term block in lead up to holidays. If the production is a remount, we condense the format and are able to complete the project in a consecutive, 12-day period. Either way, it is a short commitment.
