child safety policy
RB Corp. Instruction integrates child safety and wellbeing into all project-based dance activities. Recognising the unique environments of contemporary dance — physical contact, performance settings, and digital engagement — we implement clear, practical safeguards to identify, manage, and minimise risks. Our approach ensures that all young people are supported to participate safely, confidently, and with respect at every stage of the while engaged under our banner.
-
We are committed to providing a child-safe, inclusive and respectful environment where all young people feel safe, heard and supported.
We commit to:
Zero tolerance for abuse, bullying, or harm
Listening to and valuing young people’s voices
Involving dancers in decisions where appropriate
Supporting families to engage openly with the company
Ensuring all staff hold valid Blue Cards or equivalent

Children are empowered to:
Speak up if something feels unsafe
Be listened to and taken seriously

-
We prioritise physical safety in all rehearsal, performance, and backstage environments and actively identify and manage risks to protect all young people. Dancers must follow safety instructions and avoid unsafe or unsupervised movement.
This includes:
Active supervision at all times
Safe use of studios, stages, and equipment
Safe change room practices (no filming, appropriate supervision)
Warm-ups and injury prevention practices
First aid readiness and incident reporting
Clear emergency procedures (fire, medical, lockdown)
Physical Contact:
Must be technique-related and necessary
Must be explained before use
Must avoid sensitive areas (chest, hips, inner thighs)
Verbal instruction is preferred where possible
Supervision:
No adult alone with a minor in closed or private spaces
One-on-one sessions must be visible or known to others
Changing & Costumes:
Staff do not enter changing areas unless necessary
Privacy and dignity must be maintained at all times
We manage this by:
Maintaining visible, supervised, open environments
Following safe dance and injury prevention practices
Implementing clear supervision processes
Ensuring staff training and accountability
Acting immediately on any safety concerns
-
We promote a healthy, strength-based and inclusive approach to the body. We support dancers to develop a positive relationship with their bodies and seek help when needed.
Our approach:
No body shaming, comparison, or harmful commentary
Respect for all body types and identities
Focus on strength, performance, and wellbeing—not appearance
Age-appropriate training and expectations
Staff must not:
Make negative comments about a dancer’s body
Promote restrictive or unhealthy behaviours
Encourage unsafe physical standards
-
We foster a supportive, collaborative and psychologically safe environment. Concerns are addressed through a fair and confidential process, with no retaliation for speaking up.
Expected culture:
Respect, encouragement, and teamwork
Openness to feedback and creative exploration
Safe expression of identity
Not tolerated:
Bullying (including cyberbullying)
Exclusion, gossip, or intimidation
Harassment or discrimination
